The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has been plunged into mourning following the passing of Ibrahim Galadima, a former Chairman of the then Nigeria Football Association (NFA) and a revered elder statesman of African sports.
Galadima passed away on Saturday, April 18th in the northern city of Kano at the age of 78 after falling ill.
Under his watch, Nigeria maintained its status as a powerhouse in continental football, and he was instrumental in laying the groundwork for the structural reforms that eventually saw the NFA transition into the NFF.

He was the then Nigeria Football Association chairman between 2002 and 2006. His tenure was defined by a fierce commitment to the independence of sports administration.
Galadima had also held other positions as first vice president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), chairman of the Kano State Football Association and Kano State sports council chairman.
He was also chairman of former NPFL champions Kano Pillars. He will be remembered for his remarkable character as an administrator, his uprightness as well as his many contributions to make football in Nigeria better.
