Afghanistan on Monday began its first nationwide polio vaccination campaign for 2026, targeting about 12.6 million children under the age of five across the country.
Local outlet Tolonews reported that the exercise was delayed in Bamiyan, Daykundi and Ghor provinces due to cold weather conditions.
Earlier, the Ministry of Public Health had urged parents to present their children at designated centres during the four-day immunisation drive.
