Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has approved the appointment of three medical professionals as heads of key state health institutions.
This is in a move to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve public health administration across Anambra state.
A statement issued on Thursday in Awka by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Christian Aburime, outlined the appointments and professional backgrounds of the newly appointed health officials.

According to the statement, Dr Ezeaka Uwaeme has been appointed Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, while Dr Obianuju Okoye will head the Primary Health Care Development Agency.
“Dr Hillary Okeke has been appointed Executive Director of the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency, completing the list of new leadership appointments across three critical public health institutions in the state” the statement read.
Uwaeme is a seasoned medical practitioner with more than 22 years of experience in medicine and surgery, combining clinical expertise with administrative competence and entrepreneurial vision across diverse healthcare environments.
His professional training spanned institutions in the United States, India and Nigeria, reflecting a strong academic background and exposure to global best practices in healthcare management and service delivery.
The statement described Okoye as an experienced medical practitioner with more than 20 years of integrated clinical and administrative experience across hospital systems and public health programmes within and outside Nigeria.
According to the statement, she holds degrees in Medicine and Surgery, a Master’s in Public Health, and a Diploma in Family Medicine, and has presented papers at several professional conferences.
On Okeke, the statement said he is an award-winning medical expert and lecturer with research interests in epidemiology, global health management, and community care, contributing significantly to academic and public health discourse.
It added that Okeke holds degrees in Medicine and Surgery and a Master’s in Public Health, and is a member of several professional bodies, reflecting his commitment to continuous professional development.
The government expressed confidence that the appointees’ expertise and experience would enhance healthcare delivery, strengthen institutions, and support ongoing efforts to improve access to and the quality of services across the state.
