The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced the signing of a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ilorin Innovation Hub to support the development of Kwara State’s technology sector.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Nigeria described the agreement as its first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) outside the existing American Spaces Network.
The mission said “the partnership will strengthen U.S. engagement in Kwara’s expanding tech ecosystem, with programmes focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), STEM education and professional development.”
In the statement, the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Counselor Lee McManis described the agreement as “an important milestone that will advance innovation-driven trade and investment opportunities between the U.S. and Nigeria.”

According to him, “Kwara is developing as a tech innovation centre and American companies are already seeking opportunities to compete and collaborate in its growing tech market.”
McManis noted that through the MOU, the Embassy and Ilorin Innovation Hub would deliver programmes that would highlight American leadership in technology and innovation.
He said that it would also provide business English and STEM training, as well as equip Nigerian professionals with skills aligned to U.S. industry needs.
“The initiative reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation, education, and economic growth.
“This MOU reflects our shared belief that innovation, education, and opportunity are the foundations of a safer, stronger, and more prosperous future for both our countries,” McManis added..
