NNPC Foundation Limited/Gte, the Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR arm of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has been honoured with the CSR Champion Award (Health) 2025 by Independent Newspapers Limited.
The award was presented at the Silver Jubilee edition of the Independent Newspapers Awards, themed “Game Changers: Breaking Barriers and Shaping Tomorrow,” held in Lagos, at Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
The CSR Champion Award (Health) recognises the Foundation’s impactful contributions to healthcare, as well as its broader commitment to improving lives through social investment programmes across health, education, the environment, and access to energy.

The recognition follows a series of major health interventions by the Foundation.
These include free cataract screenings and surgeries that restored sight to over 6,000 Nigerians—among them minors born blind—as well as cancer and glaucoma treatments, and medical outreaches targeting underserved communities.
Other initiatives include the renovation and furnishing of three wards with 100 beds at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Igbobi, sponsorship of heart surgeries, and the distribution of dental health materials to children in special schools.
According to the Foundation, these achievements were made possible through the leadership and continued support of the management of NNPC Ltd., which has strengthened its capacity to deliver impactful social investments nationwide.
Reacting to the recognition, the Managing Director of the Foundation, Emmanuella Arukwe, described the award as a validation of its work and the trust reposed in it by Nigerians.
She said the honour reflects the confidence people have in the Foundation’s mission and the value of purposeful social investment.
Arukwe noted that, the recognition underscores the resilience of beneficiary communities, the dedication of the Foundation’s team, and the strength of its partnerships in delivering meaningful impact across key sectors.
She however added that, the support of NNPC Ltd.’s management has been instrumental to the Foundation’s success.
Arukwe emphasised that the award came with a renewed commitment to expand its reach and deepen its interventions across the country.
The NNPC Foundation Limited/Gte reaffirmed its dedication to advancing health programmes that improve outcomes and contribute to Nigeria’s broader development goals.
