President Salva Kiir Mayardit left Juba for Addis Ababa to hold bilateral engagements with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Kiir’s office said “his trip to Addis Ababa is a continuation of the ongoing bilateral engagements between South Sudan and Ethiopia”.
”This reflects the shared commitment of both leaders to deepen cooperation and strengthen ties” a statement from State House in Juba said.

Relations between Juba and Addis Ababa have been touted as warm, dating back to Ethiopia’s backing of South Sudan’s war of liberation and eventual independence in 2011.
This had culminated in collaborations in road links and economic cooperation.
