The Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership (AYAGL) has reaffirmed support for the Military Pensions Board’s leadership under Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem.
In a statement, AYAGL President, Ambassador Abdul Danbature, withdrew its earlier criticism of the Military Pensions Board
He said its revised position followed consultations, fact-finding engagements and independent inquiries which, it noted, showed that its previous claims were not based on sufficient verification.
The organisation offered clarification to the public after reassessing developments at the Board.
“We have come to the conclusion that our earlier criticism of the leadership of Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem was not based on sufficient verification of facts
“For this reason, the Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership hereby formally withdraws our previous statements and offers our sincere clarification to the Nigerian public.” The AYAGL President stated.
Danbature said the group’s review identified reforms and administrative improvements introduced under the current leadership of Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem.
“These include measures aimed at strengthening transparency, improving pension administration processes, and enhancing the welfare and dignity of retired military personnel who have served our country with honour,” he explained.
The AYAGL President further stated that the Assembly now believes the leadership of the Board has demonstrated commitment to ongoing reforms, noting that such efforts should be encouraged.
He also raised concerns over confusion surrounding a purported appointment linked to Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu, describing it as an issue requiring clarification by relevant authorities.
“Our investigation also revealed that the controversy surrounding the purported appointment being circulated in the name of Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu has generated confusion in the public domain,” Danbature said.
He therefore called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and relevant security agencies to investigate the matter and clarify any misrepresentation of official decisions.
“We respectfully call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and appropriate security agencies to thoroughly investigate the claims surrounding the alleged appointment… to protect the integrity of public institutions and prevent the spread of misinformation,” he said.
The group further urged Northern youths and the general public to avoid being used for political manipulation or actions capable of undermining institutions.
AYAGL reiterated its commitment to promoting peace, accountability and constructive engagement, stating that it would continue to support leadership that advances development, transparency and national unity.
