The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has described the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPC Ltd) She-Fix 2.0 initiative as a strategic driver of national economic and social transformation.

Hajia Sulaiman-Ibrahim said She-Fix 2.0 goes beyond a sectoral programme and aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at promoting inclusive growth and human capital development across Nigeria.

Speaking as Special Guest of Honour at the She-Fix 2.0 event organised by NNPC Retail Limited in Abuja, the Minister said inclusive development remains central to achieving Nigeria’s full economic potential.

She stressed that no meaningful progress can be made while a significant segment of the population remains underrepresented.

“Nigeria cannot achieve its full economic potential while leaving half of its population underrepresented,” she stated.

The Minister noted that women remain significantly underrepresented in technical and energy sectors globally, and that the gap is also reflected in Nigeria’s workforce participation.

“Globally, women make up less than 25% of the workforce in the energy sector, and in technical roles, that number is even lower,” she said.

Women’s Economic Empowerment

The Minister further linked women’s economic empowerment to national development outcomes, particularly at the household level, noting that women play a central role in family stability and welfare.

“Over 40% of Nigerian households are supported or led by women, and the well-being of these families is directly tied to women’s economic empowerment,” she said.

Highlighting government interventions, she referenced the Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions (RHSII–774), designed to reach all 774 local government areas across the country.

According to her, “We are reinforcing this direction through the Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions (RHSII–774)… targeting over 50 million vulnerable Nigerians.”

She urged women to take advantage of available opportunities, describing them as pathways to leadership and innovation.

Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim affirmed that She-Fix 2.0 represents a broader national vision,.

“Today, She-Fix 2.0 is more than an event; it is a statement that when we empower women, we do not just change individual lives, we strengthen families, stabilise communities, and accelerate national development.” she added.
