APC Sets Dates for Presidential Primary Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled its Presidential Primary Election for May 15 and 16, 2026, with nomination and expression of interest forms pegged at a combined N100 million.

In a statement, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the timetable outlines a structured sequence of activities, including the sale of forms, screening of aspirants, and appeal process, aimed at ensuring transparency and credibility.

Mr Morka noted that the timetable reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy and early preparation, adding that the APC aims to maintain an orderly and inclusive process ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to the schedule signed by the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, the process begins with the issuance of notices to state chapters on April 20, followed by the sale of forms from April 25 to May 2.

Submission of completed forms will close on May 4.

He said screening of aspirants across all elective positions is slated for May 6 to May 8, while presidential aspirants will be screened separately on May 9.

The results are expected on May 11, with appeals scheduled for May 12 and 13.

Argungu further noted that the presidential primary will take place on May 15 and 16, while primaries for the House of Representatives will follow on May 18, the Senate on May 20, the State Houses of Assembly on May 21, and governorship elections on May 23.

According to the statement, appeals arising from the primaries will commence with the presidential category on May 18 and conclude with governorship appeals on May 25.

A breakdown of fees shows that presidential aspirants are to pay N30 million for the expression of interest form and N70 million for the nomination form, totalling N100 million.

Governorship forms are priced at N50 million, while Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly forms cost N20 million, N10 million, and N6 million, respectively.

The party also announced concessions for female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities, who are required to pay only for the expression of interest form and 50 per cent of the nomination fee.
