The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Kaigama, has commended mothers for their invaluable contributions to the family, the Church, and society, urging them to continue playing their vital role in nurturing and guiding their children.

He noted that the influence of mothers in shaping the moral and social values of children begins at home, stressing that upbringing cannot be left solely to schools or religious institutions.

According to him, when society begins to experience moral decline, it often reflects shortcomings in the early formation of children within the family.

He emphasised that proper upbringing starts in the home, where mothers serve as a strong pillar.

“Mothers are always ready to make sacrifices to ensure the progress and well-being of their families, the Church, and the wider society,” he said.

Congratulating mothers on the occasion being celebrated, he thanked God for their lives and prayed that they would continue to receive divine blessings, including good health, peace, joy, and abundant rewards for their sacrifices for their families, the Church, Nigeria, and humanity.

He further affirmed that motherhood was created by God for a special purpose, noting that by God’s grace, many mothers are faithfully fulfilling the important mission entrusted to them.
