Governor Abba Yusuf has hailed the return of former Governor and Senator, Ibrahim Shekarau, to the All Progressives Congress (APC), from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Yusuf described the move as a significant boost that strengthens the party’s political dominance in Kano State.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Governor Yusuf said arrangements are underway, in collaboration with the party’s national secretariat, to fix a date for Shekarau’s formal reception into the APC.

Shekarau has formally announced his defection to his supporters following consultations and a recent visit by the APC National Chairman, Nantawe Yilwatda to his Kano residence.

While welcoming Shekarau to APC, Governor Yusuf emphasised that the party continues to gain momentum across the state, with increasing support and strategic alliances reinforcing its position as the leading political force in Kano.

According to the governor, the APC is fully prepared for future elections and is confident of securing victories across all elective positions, attributing this optimism to growing unity and calculated political alignments within its ranks.

Governor Yusuf further reassured party members of his administration’s commitment to deepening internal cohesion while expanding the party’s grassroots presence.

He urged loyalists and supporters to remain resolute and intensify mobilisation efforts as the APC gears up for the upcoming political contests.
