Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested the House of Representatives to consider and pass into law the repeal and re-enactment of the Nigerian Police Trust Fund Establishment Act 2025.
The request was conveyed in a letter transmitted to the House and read on the floor of plenary by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas.
He said, the Nigerian Police Trust Fund NPTF Act repeal and re-enactment is imperative to provide management and administration of the fund, support for the training and enhancement of the skills of the Nigerian police force, provision of modern security equipments and machineries, and to enhance the welfare of the Nigerian police force, among other matters.
President Tinubu noted that the repeal and re-enactment of the Act is necessary to strengthen the management and administration of the fund, as well as enhance training capacity for personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.

The House of Representatives may wish to note that the proposed repeal and re-enactment of the Act establishing the Nigerian Police Trust Fund will significantly enhance the operational capacity, accountability and sustainability of the NPTF, in line with the present security imperatives of the nation.
He added that, the proposed reform will also support the provision of modern security equipment and machinery, and improve the welfare of officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
