Kano, Turkey Explore Partnership to Strengthen Industrial Development

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has intensified efforts to drive industrial growth by seeking strategic collaboration with Turkey.

The Governor made this known during a high-level meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, alongside a delegation of Turkish businessmen at the Government House in Kano.

According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming Kano into a major industrial hub in Nigeria and across West Africa through strategic international partnerships.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Suleiman Wali Sani, the Governor stressed that collaboration with industrially advanced nations like Turkey is key to achieving sustainable economic development.

He expressed readiness to partner with Turkish investors in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and commerce to boost service delivery and stimulate economic growth.

Governor Yusuf also assured potential investors of a business-friendly environment, backed by policies designed to attract foreign investment, enhance ease of doing business, and safeguard investments.

He further highlighted plans to strengthen institutional capacity, promote human capital development, and foster innovation through knowledge exchange and technical cooperation with Turkish counterparts.

In his remarks, Ambassador Mehmet Poroy said the visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between Kano State and Turkey, particularly in trade and other sectors vital to socio-economic development.

He revealed that the Turkish government is set to establish a visa office in Kano to ease travel processes for residents and prospective investors.

The meeting ended with productive discussions and a strong commitment from both sides to deepen cooperation and explore new investment opportunities.
