Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, says the country will bring malaria to an end.

She expressed her optimism in her message to commemorate the 2026 World Malaria Day.

“Today, on World Malaria Day, we reaffirmed our commitment to ending malaria and protecting the health of every individual,” the First Lady stated.

Mrs Tinubu called for collaboration by all stakeholders in order to extinguish the disease from Nigeria.

“The 2026 theme; “United Against Malaria,” highlights the urgent need for sustained collaboration, increased investment through domestic financing, and innovative solutions to overcome challenges such as drug resistance and unequal access to healthcare,” she emphasised.

The First Lady also said adequate preventative measures must be put in place to prevent malaria

“Let us strengthen prevention efforts, support life-saving interventions, and ensure that every community, especially the most vulnerable, has access to the materials needed to prevent and treat malaria.

“When we stand united, we can achieve a malaria-free world,” the First Lady added.
