Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, says Voice of Nigeria (VON) plays a critical role in uniting the country’s geopolitical zones for national development.

He made the remark while receiving the VON Bureau Chief, Binta Aliyu, during a working visit to the Government House in Gusau.

Represented by his Special Assistant on Media, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, the Governor stressed that VON serves as a role model for other media organisations.

“Any Government at all levels that understands the importance of information dissemination would not overlook VON, given its international recognition,” he emphasised.

The Zamfara Governor added that VON, under the leadership of Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, has continued to strengthen national cohesion through its activities.

Earlier, the Bureau Chief, Sokoto Zone, Hajiya Binta Aliyu, said her visit was aimed at strengthening working relations and formally introducing herself to the state government.

She explained that Voice of Nigeria operates in eight languages: English, French, Kiswahili, Arabic, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and Fulfulde, covering both indigenous and international audiences across Africa and beyond.

Hajiya Binta Aliyu assured the Governor that VON would continue to provide comprehensive coverage of activities that promote peace and development in Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole.
