The former Minister of External Affairs commended the traditional ruler for expanding the frontiers of knowledge and good governance through his decades of experience in the judiciary.

“I take this moment to felicitate the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness, Maimartaba Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on the commemoration of his 86th birthday. This is not a mean feat in the earthly journey of a man

“It is gratifying to note that our royal father has taken it upon himself a development-driven agenda to see that Ilorin is making steady progress among its contemporaries,” he stated

Gambari noted that since his ascension to the throne, the Emir had demonstrated exceptional leadership through peacebuilding efforts aimed at strengthening unity in Ilorin and surrounding communities.

He attributed the monarch’s leadership strength to his extensive experience in the temple of justice.

The professor prayed for continued wisdom, good health and longevity for the Emir as he marks his new age.

Gambari is currently a distinguished visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, where he is working on his memoir documenting decades of experience in diplomacy, governance and international relations.

A senior academic, Professor Wale Adebanwi, received the former United Nations Under-Secretary-General upon his arrival at the university.
