Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have disrupted terrorist logistics networks in Kogi State, intercepting multiple ammunition couriers and recovering a significant cache of weapons components in coordinated intelligence-led operations.

The operations, conducted over a three-month period, targeted supply routes used by terrorist elements within the Brigade’s area of responsibility, culminating in key interceptions along critical transit corridors in Lokoja Local Government Area in the north central state.

A statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army said “one of the earlier breakthroughs; troops operating along the Jamata–Owara axis on 29 March 2026 intercepted a suspected logistics courier riding a motorcycle.”

A detailed search revealed a specially modified compartment designed for covert ammunition transport, with preliminary investigations linking the suspect to known terrorist networks.

The development triggered follow-on operations, including the arrest of a high-value ammunition courier, Mathew Elisha (alias Nasara), who had been on security watch lists.

In a subsequent operation on 20 April 2026, troops acting on credible intelligence mounted a snap checkpoint at Oshokoshoko along the Obajana–Kabba road.

A Toyota bus travelling from Makurdi to Obajana was intercepted, leading to the arrest of two suspected terrorist logistics couriers identified as Mallam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullahi.

A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered:

314 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition

Three AK-47 rifle magazines concealed behind the driver’s seat

Two mobile phones, one driver’s licence, one National Identification Number slip, and an identity card

The suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the 12 Military Intelligence Brigade for further investigation and necessary action.

The operations highlight a shift toward disrupting the logistics backbone of terrorist networks rather than focusing solely on direct engagements.
