The Anambra State Government has initiated comprehensive technical skills training for one hundred women selected from the state’s twenty-one local government areas.
This initiative aims to foster economic empowerment and promote self-reliance among participants.
The programme, known as the Anambra Skilled Ladies Training Programme, was inaugurated about five weeks ago under the supervision of the state’s First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo, through her “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative.”

Participants are being trained in a range of technical and vocational fields, including air-conditioning repair, mobile phone servicing, tricycle maintenance, automobile mechanics, solar and CCTV installation, and painting.
Dr Soludo, who recently visited training centres across the state, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the participants, describing the programme as a “game changer” for women’s empowerment and economic inclusion.
In a statement released on Saturday, she said the initiative was designed to foster self-reliance and entrepreneurial development among women across the state.

“It’s been five weeks of intensive practical classes for the Anambra Skilled Ladies Programme. What thrills me most is the passion, dedication and meticulousness these women have invested in every task.
“I am pleased with how far we have come. Soon, these ladies who began this journey out of passion will graduate with skills and experience that will transform their lives forever. The future is bright on this side. These women are the real changemakers,” the state’s First Lady stressed.
Dr Soludo further explained that the programme was aimed at bridging the employment gap, promoting innovation, and enhancing women’s participation in economic development.

According to her, the training is expected to enable beneficiaries to support their families financially while contributing to broader development efforts in the state.
The First Lady commended the participants for their commitment, expressing confidence that they would complete the programme with practical skills capable of transforming their livelihoods.
The state government said the initiative forms part of its broader strategy to expand vocational education and strengthen economic opportunities for women across Anambra State.
