Adamawa State has made a significant leap in Nigeria’s 2023 Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report, climbing to 11th position from its previous 21st place.

The development was announced by the state’s Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, during a Town Hall Meeting organized by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) in Yola, the State Capital.

Professor Farauta, who represented Governor Ahmadu Fintiri at the event, noted that the meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to address business challenges and co-create inclusive, practical solutions tailored to local realities.

She highlighted the state’s progress under the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER), stating that Adamawa achieved five Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLIs) and has submitted evidence for two additional indicators.

We expect to meet seven out of ten for the Year 1 Annual Performance Assessment Report (APER), with the remaining three targeted in Year 2,” she said.

The Deputy Governor reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive business environment, aligning with the Federal Government’s broader vision.

Our priorities remain anchored on peace and security, infrastructure that connects people and markets, support for SMEs and agribusiness, digital transformation, human capital development, and strong public-private partnerships,” she added.

Dr. Bello Abubakar Song, Adamawa State’s SABER focal person, lauded the achievements of the program, noting that it has brought meaningful reforms to the state’s business processes.

The impact has been transformative, and we will continue to build on these gains,” he said.

Director-General of PEBEC, Zainab Audu, expressed appreciation for the engagement, commending Adamawa’s strides toward making the state more business-friendly.

The 2023 Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report evaluates Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory based on the effectiveness of reforms in areas such as infrastructure, regulatory environment, skills and labor, and transparency.

Adamawa’s upward movement reflects its ongoing efforts to improve the investment climate and attract local and international businesses
