Nigeria’s Vice President, VP Kashim Shettima, on Saturday graced the wedding reception of Nanbam Mutfwang, daughter of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, who was married to Jeremiah Ayodele, spotlighting the unifying power of the marriage institution and how it can be leveraged to transform the state into an economic powerhouse.
VP Shettima who represented President Bola Tinubu at the wedding ceremony said the union, which brings together the North and the South, symbolises that what binds Nigerians together far outweighs whatever seeks to divide the nation.
“We need to build bridges; we need to embrace one another. Challenges bring forth the character of leaders,” he said at the wedding reception in Jos.

The Vice President noted that while Plateau faces challenges, they are not insurmountable, especially with the right calibre of leadership.
He expressed delight at the presence of stakeholders, describing them as the movers and shakers of Plateau politics.
The VP called on the people of Plateau, irrespective of their political affiliations, religious persuasions, tribal identities or sectional backgrounds to unite.

“We can transform Plateau into an economic powerhouse,” Vice President Shettima said, noting that though the beautiful city faces challenges that threaten to make it a depressed economy, stakeholders in Jos have the capacity to change the narrative and add value.
He urged the people to unite and live together as brothers.
In his remarks, Governor Muftwang expressed delight at the presence of the Vice President and conveyed his appreciation for the goodwill of President Tinubu.
He also thanked the Nigerian Government for its sustained progressive reforms in enhancing security in the state and the country at large, saying “we must continue to forge ahead with hope.”

Dignitaries at the event included the Governors of Borno and Kaduna States, Babagana Zulum and Uba Sani; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa;the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction in Nigeria, Dr. Bernard Doro; the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda; and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase among others.
Meanwhile, the Vice President was also in Kaduna State where he attended the wedding fatiha of Salihu Bello (Sudais) and Amina Abubakar Abdullahi (Walidah).
The solemnization involving the family of his longtime friend, Abubakar Abdullahi Attajiri, took place at the Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna.
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum served as wali (guardian) for the bride, Amina Abubakar Abdullahi, while Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani stood in for the groom, Salihu Bello, during the marriage ceremony.
The Vice President, who was received by Governor Uba Sani upon arrival was accompanied by his wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima; Governor Zulum; former Minister of Transportation, Sai’du Alkali, as well as some top aides and government officials.
