Tobi Amusan Claims Diamond League Victory in Style

By Chidi Nwoke, Abuja

The world of track and field witnessed another masterclass in consistency and speed, as Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan powered to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League.

Maintaining her imperious form this season, the 28-year-old sprinted to the finish line in 12.28 seconds, a time that has become a hallmark of her 2026 campaign. It is the third time this year Amusan will be running a very fast 12.28s.

Amusan made up the ground on Nadine Visser, then went clear ahead of Grace Stark who finished 2nd in a time of 12.38s and Alaysha Johnson 3rd in 12.39s.

This victory in Paris is Amusan’s second Diamond League win of the season, following her previous triumph in Rabat.

Having already secured her fourth consecutive African title earlier this year, the Nigerian speedster is firmly in the hunt to reclaim the Diamond League trophy—a title she successfully defended three consecutive times from 2021 to 2023.

Her 2026 season has been defined by remarkable versatility and relentless competition. From her early-season outing in the 200m in Jamaica to her consistent dominance in the hurdles, Amusan has proven that she is peaking at the perfect time.
