South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will undertake a working visit to France from July 10 to 12, during which he will co-chair a high-level UNESCO meeting on education in Paris and participate in World War I commemorations at Delville Wood.
President Ramaphosa was invited by UNESCO Director‑General Khaled El‑Enany to co‑chair the SDG4 Steering Committee on 10 July, followed by the Transforming Education Summit stocktake.
According to a statement from the Presidency, on 12th July, he will attend the 110th Anniversary Commemoration of the Battle of Delville Wood at the South African Memorial in Longueval where a wreath‑laying ceremony and the unveiling of a UNESCO plaque are planned.
President Ramaphosa will be accompanied by ministers and senior officials during the France visit, to advance South Africa’s education diplomacy and honour the country’s wartime history while reinforcing ties with UNESCO.
