The Nigerian Government has expressed deep sympathy to the Government and people of Venezuela following the devastating twin earthquakes that struck the country’s capital, Caracas.
The earthquake left many people dead, injured several others and caused widespread destruction.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, Nigeria described the disaster as a tragic event that has brought immense grief and suffering to countless families and communities.
The Government said; “it stands in solidarity with Venezuela during this period of national mourning.”
Nigeria also commended the courage and dedication of emergency responders, rescue workers, medical personnel and volunteers who continue to provide life-saving assistance and humanitarian support to those affected by the earthquakes.
The Nigerian Government extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
It also expressed confidence that the resilient people of Venezuela would overcome the tragedy through unity, determination and the support of the international community.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Nigeria’s solidarity with the Venezuelan Government and expressed hope that ongoing rescue, relief and reconstruction efforts would bring comfort, recovery and restoration to the affected communities.
