Zambia Slashes Major Petroleum Products Prices

Zambia’s Energy Regulation Board has cut pump prices for all major petroleum products for July, offering relief to motorists and businesses.

This follows a drop in international oil prices and a slight appreciation of the Kwacha against the US dollar.

The revised tariffs take effect on Wednesday and follow the ERB’s monthly review of global market trends and exchange rate movements.

Petrol has been reduced by K1.00 per litre from K27.15 (about $1.50) to K26.15, while diesel sees the largest adjustment, falling by K4.00 from K32.11 to K28.11.

Paraffin drops from K33.91 to K28.32 per litre, a reduction of K5.60, and Jet A‑1 fuel decreases by K6.41 from K36.68 to K30.27

The ERB says the cuts reflect lower international oil prices during the review period and a marginal strengthening of the local currency, Kwacha, which eased import costs.

The reductions come as Zambia continues to navigate global energy volatility, with fuel prices remaining a key driver of transport costs and inflation.
