The Nigerian Army has expanded its operational manpower with the graduation of more than 8,000 newly trained soldiers.
This addition is reinforcing ongoing military operations against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats as the Service continues to strengthen its nationwide force posture.
A statement issued by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, read that the Passing Out Parade at Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, marked another phase in the Army’s drive to build a more professional, combat-ready and mission-focused force capable of supporting Nigeria’s evolving security requirements.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, said the new intake forms part of the Nigerian Government’s directive for the recruitment of 28,000 additional personnel to strengthen the Army’s force structure.
He explained that the expansion was intended to address manpower requirements, improve operational effectiveness and increase the Army’s capacity to respond decisively to emerging security challenges across the country.

He explained that they are joining the Service at a time when troops remain actively deployed across multiple theatres in defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and the protection of lives and property.

Lieutenant General Shaibu urged the newly graduated soldiers to uphold discipline, professionalism, courage, loyalty and selfless service throughout their careers, reminding them that significant national resources had been invested in their recruitment, training and development.

He further directed the soldiers to remain resilient and committed to duty while conducting all operations in line with military ethics, professional standards and respect for human rights.
The Army Chief expressed confidence that the additional manpower would reinforce ongoing operations and contribute to improving security across the country.

He commended their resilience and discipline while reaffirming the state’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces in promoting peace, security and national development.
