2021 Olympics: D’Tigress To Face USA, France, Japan
Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have been drawn in a tough group at the rescheduled Olympics tournament, facing USA, France, and Japan in Group B of the Basketball event.
The USA women’s team is the top-ranked team in the world, while France and Japan are ranked fifth and tenth respectively on the ranking table. The Nigerian team is in 14th place on the table.
The 2021 Olympic Games will be the second for the women’s team, after their first appearance at the 2004 edition. The pedigree of the team has improved recently, and they have been crowned FIBA AfroBasket champions in consecutive tournaments in 2017 and 2019.
Also, the men’s national team, D’Tigers, also landed in Group B, but they will face off Australia and the winners of the qualifiers that are scheduled for Serbia and Croatia.
The wait for the last two oppositions will finally be over when the Olympics Qualifying Tournament comes to an end on the 24th of July.
The Olympic Games will be held between the 23rd of July and the 8th of August, 2021 after its initial postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
