Disabilities Commission calls for more collaboration with Ministries

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria has called for more collaboration with Ministries, Departments and Agencies for the mainstreaming of persons with disabilities for national development.
The Executive Secretary, James Lalu made the call in Abuja, Nigeria at the event to commemorate the International day of Persons With Disabilities, PWDs which was organised by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
Mr Lalu said inclusion of Persons With Disabilities in all sectors of Government was key to nation building.
“Government had done its best and it’s time for the Persons with Disabilities to build their communities,” he said.
He therefore advised MDAs to come up with a road map to ensure that every aspect of work was disability sensitive.
The Executive also lauded the relentless efforts of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development at ensuring that the National Commission for Persons With Disabilities was established.
Also speaking at the event, the Minister of State, Education, Emeka Nwajiuba said the Ministry of Education was retooling schools to accommodate students with disabilities for a conducive learning environment for efficiency.
