NPFL ROUNDUP: Kwara United up to second place
Kwara United today shot to second place on the NPFL table after they won 2-1 at Sunshine Stars, while Heartland put behind their money problems to move out of the relegation zone courtesy of a 2-1 win at MFM FC.
Kwara United now have 18 points from nine matches, three points behind leaders Enyimba, who beat Plateau United 2-1 Saturday.
Sadeeq Yusuf scored his seventh goal of the season when he put Sunshine Stars in front on 50 minutes.
However, Kwara United fought back to draw level in the 54th minute through Issa Gata, before Stephen Jude delivered the match winner four minutes from time.
For Heartland, the big win in Lagos against home team MFM has eased their relegation worries as they now have 10 points from nine matches.
They are now 15th on the table.
It must also have meant something for coach Fidelis Ilechukwu to get one over his former club.
Jigawa Golden Stars beat fellow relegation battlers Adamawa United by the odd goal to boast their survival hopes.
There were also home wins for Akwa United, Enugu Rangers and Dakkada FC.
