Nigerian Government to build digital schools – UBEC

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in Nigeria says plans are underway to build digital schools, in order to actualize its vision of digital basic education delivery across the country.

This was made known in a statement made available to Journalists by the Commission’s Headpf  Media, David Apeh.

In the statement, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr Hammid Bobboyi revealed the plans at the commissioning ceremony of the Basic Education projects at the federal university Dutse in Jigawa state.

The Executive Secretary said the school will be purely digital with state of the art facilities for learning, he added that a digital resource centre is also being constructed in Abuja to coordinate digital learning in the Basic Education sub-sector.

According to him, When completed he the facilities will put the sub-sector on the digital map of the world”

Dr Bobboyi further stated that the partnership with Federal University Dutse represents strategic engagement which will yield mutual benefit to both FUD and UBEC and would help to re-enforce and strengthen the Basic Education Sub-sector in Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fatima Batulu Mukhtar applauded the Executive Secretary Board and management of UBEC for the primary School Project and the early childhood care development and Education (ECCDE) centre in the University.
