President Muhammadu Buhari is in a meeting with a delegation from Borno and Yobe States, North-East Nigeria.

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum and his Yobe State counterpart, Mai-Mala Buni are leading the delegation, which comprises former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima and Ministers of State Agriculture, Mustapha Shehuri and that of State-Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu.

Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Chief of Statf to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouk are also attending the meeting.

Similarly, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, National Security Adviser, retired Major General Babagana Monguno and the Director General of State Security Service, Yusuf Bichi, are also at the meeting.

Although no reason has been disclosed for the closed-door meeting, it is likely that the selected members of the Borno/Yobe Elders’ Forum are in the seat of power to thank the President for measures taken to end the Boko haram insurgency that has bedevilled the two states since 2009.

Details to follow.
