The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has commiserated with victims of the Borno IDP Camp fire disaster.
The incidence which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday claimed three lives, two adults and an infant, affected 3,600 IDPs and hundreds of shelters were razed.
Forestall future occurrences
The Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq directed that the cause of the fire be investigated to forestall future occurrences while discouraging cooking inside the makeshift homes.
She commended the Chairperson of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Yabawa Kolo, and other SEMA officials who acted promptly.
The Minister therefore directed that relief materials be dispatched to the camp to cushion the effect of the incidence at the IDPs.
