Lawmaker commences educational equipment support programme

The Member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Chinedu Obidigwe, had begun educational equipment support intervention programme for select schools in the constituency.

Flagging off the programme in Aguleri, Hon Obidigwe said the move was conceived to provide materials and equipment to complement the effort of state government for educational purposes.

He added that the exercise was part of his year 2020 constituency projects for the people of the constituency,saying that nine secondary schools were chosen for the first phase of the project.

The schools include,Fr Joseph Memorial Secondary school, Aguleri, Crowther Secondary School, Umuikwu Anam,Col Mike Attah Secondary School, Nkpunando,Government Technical Secondary School,Umueri,Community Secondary School, Umueze Anam.

The Lawmaker disclosed that he would soon flag off Educational Support Fund in collaboration with Faith Based Organizations for indigent students in schools in the area.

In a Speech, the Former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, praised the lawmaker for touching the lives of students and educational institutions with the materials.

He said the gesture has provided succour for indigent students who could not afford to procure basic educational needs for a hitch free teaching and learning in schools.

Contributing, Bishop Amechi Udogu of Anglican Diocese of Afikpo,said the items which included computers, chairs,books,desks and lockers would help alleviate challenges facing schools in the constituency.
