Nigeria Police arrests suspect for attempted kidnap in Niger State

The Nigerian Police,  Niger State Command has arrested a 15 years old student of Government Science School Izom over an alleged attempt to kidnap students of the school in Gurara Local Government Area of the state.

The commissioner of police in chàrge of Niger state, Adamu Usman stated that the suspect an SS2 student of the school wrote a letter and posted it at the school notice board notifying the school community of the planned by the alleged kidnappers.

“I personally arranged this so that our school will be closed down to enable my father to transfer me back to my former school.

 “I really don’t know how it all happened,I just work up at night wrote the letter notifying the school authority through the notice board that kidnappers are coming to our school,”  said the student.

The Police  Commissioner said already armed security personnel have been deployed to the school to ensure the safety of staff and students.

“We don’t want to be taking unaware hence the need for us to adopt proactive security measures against any security threats,” he explained.

The Commissioner further said the command has embarked on intensive investigations and appeal to members of the general public to assist the command with require information that could assist in the ongoing fight against banditry and kidnapping in the state.

Recently about 27 students and some family members of Government Science College, Kagara, in Rafi Local Government Area of the state have been kidnapped by Gunmen, in addition to about 40 passengers travelling from Kontagora to Minna the state capital within one week.
