Inauguration: Ondo governor pledges to consolidate achievements

Ondo State governor in Southwest Nigeria Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has pledged to consolidate on the achievements in his first term in office, just as he begins his second term on Wednesday.

 

He made this commitment at his 2nd term inauguration in Akure, the state capital, describing the journey so far as productive, remarkable and resourceful.

 

Akeredolu who was re-elected on the 11th of October, 2020 acknowleged the contributions received from the other governors, while also thanking God for giving him the opportunity to serve the Ondo people for another term.

 

“I thank Ondo people for renewing our mandate. We see this as another round of hard work. We will set the state on the path of real growth and development. 

 

“We thank God for using us to raise the bar of good governance and take our state to enviable heights within the last four years. Our administration inherited a lot of challenges, but we proceeded with rigorous discipline and with the little resources to actualise lofty objectives,” he stated.

 

Akeredolu said his government has increased the infrastructure development and would continue to improve the living conditions of the people.

 

He stressed that his victory at the last election confirmed his wide acceptance from the electorates and pledged to justify the renewal of the new mandate.

 

In attendance at the event, was governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun state,  Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Ekiti State Governor and Chairman Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress.

 

Others included the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Former Interim National Chairman of the APC, Chief Adebisi Akande; Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; Former Osun Deputy Governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, traditional rulers,  members of the Judiciary; members of the State and National Assemblies; top government functionaries; notable politicians, among others.
