The Niger State Government has commended the joint efforts of security agents, traditional leaders and other relevant stakeholders in rescuing the Kagara school victims from kidnappers.
The State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello made the commendation when he received the 38 rescued victims at the Government house in Minna, on Saturday.
While addressing the rescued victims in a solemn mood, Governor Bello enjoined them to see their experience as one of the lessons of life and should not be discouraged in their pursuit for education.
He said the state Government would put up a system to look at the root causes with the view to finding solutions.
Among the 38 released abductees were 24 students, 6 staff and 8 staff relatives.
However, one of the abductees was hospitalised due to excessive exhaustion.
Medical Examination
The released victims who arrived the State Capital at 9:45 am on Saturday were medically examined by team of medical practitioners to ascertain their health conditions.
“The kidnapped victims will remain under medical examinations for a few days before they will be reunited with their families,” the Governor said.
The released abductees were kidnapped on the 17th of February, 2021 when bandits that were dressed in military uniforms stormed the Government Science College Kagara in Niger state.
Parents Appreciation
Parents and relatives of the released students appreciated the efforts of the state government for the released of their children safely.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has welcomed the release of the abducted students of Government Science College, Kagara.
The President applauded the efforts of the Niger State Government and the Nigeria’s security and intelligence agencies for their efforts in securing the release.
He also sympathised with the kidnapped victims and their family members on their ordeals.
