The workers in Kwara and Ebonyi States on Wednesday joined their colleagues to protest the plan by National Assembly to remove National Minimum Wage from the Exclusive List in the Nigerian Constitution.

In Kwara state, workers who were led by the state NLC Chairman, Comrade Issa Ore with various inscriptions went about their peaceful protect in their large number.

They called on well-meaning Nigerians and right-thinking Honourable members of the House of Representatives to dissociate themselves from the motion and ensure that the bill did not scale through.

In the same vein, the Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress NLC Ebonyi State Chapter, Comrade Ikechukwu Nwafor, said such a plan would not be possible in the Labour sphere.

Nwafor advised Senator Katti Mohammed to withdraw such a bill as it’s inimical to national development.

“Such a bill is very devilish and cannot be accepted by Nigeria workers. Workers’ wages should not be politicised as they contribute majorly to the development of the Country, Comrade Nwafor said.

“We cannot address the issue of poverty without first addressing the issues of fair and equitable wages, Nwafor maintained.

Nwafor decried the poor implementation of N30,000 minimum wage in the State.

“Implementation of N30,000 minimum wage in Ebonyi is not in line with rules, guidelines and principles of minimum wage, he explained.

He called on Ebonyi workers to remain resolute in pursuance of their legitimate rights.
