Nigeria commiserates with Cote d’Ivoire on PM’s death

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of the Prime Minister of Cote d’Ivoire, Hamed Bakayoko.

In a message on behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, President Buhari conveyed his deepest condolences to the family of the Prime Minister, President Alassane Ouattara, the Government and people of Cote d’ Ivoire as they mourn Bakayoko, few months after the demise of his predecessor.

President Buhari believes that the late Prime Minister, who was a close confidant of President Ouattara, would be greatly missed in the country and West Africa and fondly remembered for his deep commitment in strengthening unity and cooperation.

President Buhari prays for the repose of the soul of the deceased and comfort for his loved ones and all who mourn.

Hamed Bakayoko died on Wednesday in a hospital in Germany, where he was receiving treatment for cancer. His death came just days after his 56th birthday.

 

The late Bakayoko was appointed Prime Minister in July, following the sudden death of his predecessor Amadou Gon Coulibaly.
