The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 14 comprising Kaduna and Katsina States, Ahmed Abdulrahman, has urged residents of the two States to have faith in Nigeria’s electoral system as they exercise the franchise on Saturday February 25.
He gave the advice in an interview with Voice of Nigeria in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.

AIG Abdulrahman, who spoke to Voice of Nigeria on the level of preparedness for Saturday’s election, said the Police was ready for a smooth conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

He said residents of Kaduna and Katsina States have no reason to fear any form of intimidation or molestation.

“Police preparation for the 2023 general election in Zone 14; Kaduna and Katsina States, we have finished our arrangements.  Police preparation for the 2023 general election in Zone 14; Kaduna and Katsina States, we have finished our arrangements.  As the AIG overseeing the election in the zone, I came and I met superb arrangements made by the Commissioners of Police in the two States and their Lieutenants.
“I am ok with that but I have added what I feel was the gap and they have since aligned and I think we are good to go. Our officers and men are well motivated. We have been recently received more anti-riot equipment courtesy President Buhari.
“My message for the good people of Kaduna and Katsina States is that they should have faith in the system and come out on Saturday and vote for the choice candidates without any hindrance.
“The Police and other security agencies are ready to protect them on that day, right form their residences to the election venue and back home,” he assured.

Warning
AIG Abdulrahman used the opportunity to warn mischief makers or political thugs to have a rethink as their actions would be countered by the police security agencies.

On the Police preparation in this zone concerning political thuggery, we are very much prepared and I have read the riot act to every thug, warning that anybody who feels he can partake in any act of vandalism or recklessness during the election, we are going to make sure such a person is arrested and the full burden of the law will bear on him aggressively,” he said.

He assured residents of Kaduna and Katsina States that they would also enjoy a peaceful atmosphere even after the winners of the election have been declared, as the Police was leaving no stone unturned to ensure that.
