The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Anambra State, Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu, says all is set for the conduct of elections in all the 5720 polling units across the 21 local councils in the state, just as she allayed fears of security concerns in some parts of the state.

Speaking with newsmen at the State Commission’s Office in Awka, she explained that it had successfully distributed non-sensitive materials to various areas as well as deployed enough security operatives.

While assuring of its commitment to conduct free, fair and credible elections, she said electorate votes must count, and called on them to participate actively during the exercise.

“We are set for election. I wish to assure that votes will count and people should not sell their votes because your vote can decide the winner” she appealed.

She, however, warned that anyone trying to disrupt the process or foment trouble would be dealt with by security operatives.

The Commissioner noted that elections would not hold in polling units with zero registrants, but quickly added that it would not shut down the units as they could record registrants during review exercise preparatory to Anambra Gubernatorial Poll in 2025.

She, then, advised politicians to play according to laid down rules and not overheat the polity and shun do or die attitude to politics.
