President Muhammadu Buhari has cast his votes for the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The number one citizen exercised his franchise at about 09:00 GMT at the Kofar Baru Polling Unit 003 of Sarkin Yara ‘A’ Ward of Daura, Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State.
He did so in the company of his wife Aisha and personal aides.
The President is number 185 on the voters register for the polling unit while his wife Aisha is number 180.
Shortly after arrival at the polling unit, President Bihari handed over his voter’s card and within a few minutes, he was accredited using the Biometric Voter Accreditation System.
Yasir Daiyabu, the Presiding Officer for KOFAR Baru Polling Unit then handed over the ballot papers for both the Presidential and National Assembly elections to the Nigerian leader.
After obtaining his ballot papers, he moved into the cubicle provided by the electoral body for the election, where he thumb printed for the candidates of his choice before dropping the ballot papers in the designated boxes.
Soon after the first family finished casting their votes, other voters that registered at the unit also took their turns to vote.
In line with the plan to check excesses of politicians, the nation’s anti-graft agencies, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (I CPC) were fully on the ground to monitor and stop cases of vote buying.
