Collation of Results For Presidential Poll Ends In Osun State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun state has concluded collation of results for the presidential poll held on Saturday.

The exercise began around 10:30am with the State Collation Officer, Professor Folasade Ogunsola presiding and it ended at about 5:35pm local time.
Three sitting sessions were held with breaks in between for rest and to await results from the local government whose results came in late.
Collation Officers from twenty-three (23) Local Government Areas in the state first presented results from their respective LGs to the State Collation Officer.

Thereafter, on resumption from the first break, results for six (6) more local government areas were presented.

 

The last local government area results came in at about 5:25pm and they were promptly presented.

 

The State Collation Officer who noted that the total number of registered voters in the state stood at 1,954,800, said the total number of accredited voters was 759,362.

 

She explained that collation of results started from the registration areas, where they were verified and then moved to the local government areas before ending at the state collation centre.
Earlier, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, Dr Mutiu Agboke, had hailed the presidential and national assembly elections as credible and largely peaceful.
He however urged all stakeholders to continue to work for the continuous improvement of the nation’s democratic system in order to maximize its development.
