Dankwambo wins Gombe State North Senatorial District election

The Senatorial Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has won the senate seat of Gombe State North Senatorial District, with 143, 155 votes, defeating his closest opponent, Senator Saidu Alkali of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who scored 77, 948 votes.

 

Declaring the result in the presence of party officials and observers in Malam Sidi, the headquarters of Kwami Local Government Area, the INEC Returning Officer for the Gombe North Senatorial District, Professor Umaru Gurama, said “Danwambo, of PDP, haven satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is return elected.”

 

Professor Gurama said Gombe North Senatorial District, made up of Dukku, Gombe, Kwami, Funakaye and Nafada LGAs, had 713, 251 registered voters.

 

He said 239, 339 voters were accredited during the election on Saturday, February 25, 2023, out of which, 237, 116 votes were cast and 228, 550 were valid and 8566 rejected.

 

In the third position is the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, which scored 4, 061 votes, followed by the Labour Party, LP, which got 1, 383 votes.
