Kogi Governor mourns demise of Legislator, Jimoh Omiata

The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has mourned the demise of Legislator Jimoh Omiata, who died on Sunday barely two weeks to completion of his two-term tenure in the state assembly.

The governor’s condolences were contained in a press statement issued to Journalists in Lokoja on Monday by Chief Press Secretary to Kogi state Governor, Mr Onogwu Muhammed.

He expressed shock over the passing of the member representing Yagba East State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, and described his passing as a colossal loss to the state and the nation’s legislative organ.

“Today, on behalf of the people of Kogi State, I extend my deepest condolences to the family, Kogi State House of Assembly and friends of Jimoh Omiata who passed away on Sunday evening after a brief illness.

Omiata was a true patriot who dedicated his life to public service. He was a passionate advocate for the people he represented, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. We mourn his loss and will continue to honor his memory by upholding the values he championed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time. I pray to God Almighty to grant his soul eternal rest”, the governor said.

Governor Bello describes late Omiata as a refined politician with exemplary antecedents who served the state with integrity as a lawmaker adding that the state has missed his great experience in legislative business and contributions to governance especially in the next dispensation.

Mr Omiata, died at a Lagos hospital after an illness.

He was 57 and a two-term state legislator and was a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
