Meanwhile, the APC defeated other political parties in all the 33 Local Government Areas, as declared by the Collation Officer for Oyo State, Prof Olatunde Kehinde, who is also the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

Kehinde disclosed that APC won by 449,884 votes, while the PDP polled 182,977 votes.

Labour Party came third with 99,110 votes, followed by NNPP with 4,095, coming a distant third.

Overwhelming Victory

In an interview with Voice of Nigeria after the announcement, the Oyo South Senatorial Chairman of APC, Mojeed Olaoya, said he was overwhelmed with joy at the wins.

Olaoya thanked Oyo State residents for their overwhelming support and urged them to vote for the APC in the forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly elections.

For his part, the PDP State Collation Agent, Dr Nureni Adeniran, asserted that the outcome of the elections is the wish of the people of Oyo State, saying the governorship election was a different ball game entirely and PDP would win despite its performance in the presidential election.

The exercise was monitored by local and international observers and agents of all political parties that participated in the election, witnessed by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Adeniran Tella.

All the political party agents signed the result sheet to show consent to the outcome of the exercise.
