Defence Minister Congratulates President- Elect

The Minister of Defence Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) has congratulated the President- elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the 16th democratically elected Nigerian Leader.

General Magashi said the All Progressive Party’s victory at the Presidential Poll represented a new vitsa of hope for Nigerians as captured in the ‘renewed hope’ mantra of Tinubu/ Shettima joint ticket.

The Defence Minister therefore rejoiced with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Leadership of the APC at all levels and other stakeholders for the well deserved outcome of the Presidential and National Assembly elections that would guarantee continuity and stability of the nation’s polity.

Extending hands of fellowship

While acknowledging the political maturity, magnanimity and humility of the President-elect as displayed by extending hands of fellowship to the candidates of other political parties who lost at the polls.

General Magashi pointed out that the victory of APC has illuminated the beauty of representative, competitive and elective democracy that bestows the power of choices on the electorate as dully exercise in the just concluded elections.

Law abiding

He however advised the electorate to remain calm and law abiding, even in the coming election and to shun any act of violence capable of disrupting peaceful coexistence in the country.

The Defence Minister also warned that the Military would not renege on its duty in terms of Civil Authority alongside other security operatives and would not condone lawlessness and abuse of civil liberty in any part of the country.
