The Governorship candidate under the main opposition party Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Muhammad Sadiq Wali has expressed optimism in winning the gubernatorial seat for Kano state in an election scheduled for coming Saturday the 11th March 2023

Sadiq stated this during a chat with Newsmen in Kano state north Western Nigeria.

He said despite the late coming of the recent Supreme Court judgement validating his candidature, just ten days to the poll, he’s bound to coast to victory in this weekend’s election.

We are going to move forward with our candidature, as well as reach out to as many people, as possible via the radio, social media, the print media and physically, to try and market our candidature from what it was from Day one.

I Sadiq Wali, I am gunning for the governorship of Kano State on the platform of the PDP. I have been gunning for that position, since the primary elections and I am still running for that position. I am not merging with anybody or group or stepping down for anyone. And victory will surely be mine at the end of the Saturday gubernatorial election in Kano state.

He said, he aims to govern the ancient commercial city of Kano in order to take it to an enviable position.

“I intend to do the best I can in transforming the economic status, ranging from agriculture to business and commerce and by the grace of God, if given the opportunity to serve, as the governor of Kano, we shall try to transform Kano, as you know it, not to divide it. We will take it back to its roots, where it was, which we would be pride to call ourselves the people of Kano.

“ When we go to any part of the country, Kano will emerge as the 10 top per cent of the most educated in the country, where our businesses will thrive and infrastructure not left to decay, decades after decades, that is what we want. For this to be transformed into reality, all the good people of Kano should troop out on guber election day and cast their votes for the PDP,” appealed Sadiq.

He admitted that there were internal crisis in the Kano state Chapter of the PDP, which was caused by people planted by other political parties, as evidenced by the recent decamping to the New Nigeria Peoples Party,NNPP, by the Shehu Sagagi led faction of the PDP, stressing that the development will not deter the party from forging ahead.

He urged people to dismiss the rumour making rounds that a chieftain of the PDP in the state, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau is working for the victory of the APC governortorial candidate, Dr.Yusuf Gawuna.

He said the two term former governor of the state is at home with his candidature and working assiduously for his victory

It is not true. What will Shekarau benefit from it, if he works for Gawuna now? I can unequivocally tell you that Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has no problem with my candidature. It is just nonsense to say Shekarau is working underground against my candidature,” he said.

He said Shekarau’s keeping mum during the court travails of the party in the state was out of respect for the law, to avoid double speaking as an elder statesman and as a party loyalist.

“Shekarau just decided to remain silent in the PDP crisis at the state level because the case was in court. As a man who respects law and democracy, he should not speak on a case that is before the court. But, as far as I am concerned, it is not true that Shekarau is working for APC” he added.
