The National Commission for Persons With Disabilities in Nigeria has commended Rule of Law and Anti Corruption, ROLAC, for institutionalisation of disability law and access to justice in the country.

Executive Secretary of the Commission, James Lalu gave the commendation at the close of an event held by the Rule of Law and Anti- Corruption, in Abuja.

He said the milestone achieved in the pursuit of Justice especially for the most vulnerable in the society is commendable.

According to him, Persons With Disabilities PWD have been the most vulnerable and have had limited access to justice over the years.

“Some members of the PWD community have experienced abuses that are so dehumanizing without any substantive law protecting them in Nigeria until the 2018 prohibition law was enacted,” he asserted.

He equally noted that the Commission has taken measures to forestall the occurrence of abuse on persons with disabilities through partnership with the Legal Aid Council and the Ministry of Justice.

Ambassador to the delegation of the European Union, Samuela Isopi reiterated the commitment of the European Union and promised to work closely with the British Council to further strengthen the Rule of Law and fight  corruption in Nigeria.
