The management of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC says Corps Members are apolitical, neutral and must be protected by all and sundry following the violence that marred the Ekiti East Assembly by-election.
This was contained in a statement by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the Scheme, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi and made available to journalists in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The Director said a Corps Member who was part of the Adhoc staff for the by-election in Ekiti State, Southwest Nigeria, was shot by hoodlums who attacked a polling unit.
“The corps member is in stable condition and responding to treatment, while others have all returned home safely.
“Management wishes to reiterate that corps members are apolitical and neutral and must be protected by all and sundry.” Mrs Adeyemi said.
