Anti-narcotics Agency Arrests South American with illegal drugs

Nigeria’s drug enforcement Agency the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has arrested a 34-year-old South American man from Suriname, Dadda Lorenzo Harvy Albert, for importing into Nigeria 117 parcels of cocaine.

The suspect who was arrested at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Port Harcourt, Rivers State in Southern Nigeria,  concealed the consignments in extra-large latex condoms factory packed inside bottles of 100ml body spray.

A press statement by the NDLEA’S spokesperson Mr Femi BabaFemi said, the suspect claimed he departed his country, Suriname, located on the North Eastern coast of South America on 2nd April for Sao Paulo, Brazil and from Sao Paulo to Nigeria on Friday 7th April 2023 on board Qatar Airways flight in search of his long-lost Nigerian father whom he called “Omini.”

Also, NDLEA operatives at Tincan seaport in Lagos have intercepted 110 parcels of Colorado, a strain of cannabis, weighing 55kg hidden in a container bearing five units of used vehicles, from Toronto via Montreal, Canada.

The NDLEA’S operatives within the last week of operations have arrested several suspects with various quantities of substance abuse seized in Kano, Lagos, Imo, Bauchi, Taraba and Sokoto States.

Reacting to the arrests and seizures, the Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, retired Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa commended the officers and men of the affected commands urging them and their peers across the country to maintain the current momentum in their drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts and even strive to exceed set targets.
