Gombe State Governor in North-East Nigeria, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has joined the rest of the world to celebrate this year’s successful end of Ramadan fast.
He called on Muslims in the state to sustain the momentum of supplication, devotion and prayers for peace, development and prosperity of the State and Nigeria as a whole.
Governor Yahaya, who made the call in his Sallah goodwill message, described Eid-Al-Fitr as a period of sober reflection and charged Muslims to replicate the lessons learned in the holy month of Ramadan in their daily lives.
“As we celebrate the Eid-al-Fitr festival, I wish to admonish us to learn from the good lessons of Ramadan which connote piety, obedience, and selflessness. We must all imbibe the tenets of Islam which promotes peace, tolerance, modesty and love,” said Governor Yahaya.
He tasked citizens not to lose sight in the face of current socio-economic challenges in the country, but to remain resolute and prayerful, and that with faith, the nation’s trying moments would be over and Nigeria would emerge stronger and more united.
Governor Yahaya urged the people to continue to cherish the relative peace and harmony enjoyed in the state.
He called on clerics and traditional rulers to continue to preach the gospel of unity and tolerance among the diverse people for peace and growth of Gombe State and the country at large.
While describing peace as a catalyst for the socio-economic development of any society, the Gombe State Governor, however, emphasized that his administration would not condone any act that is capable of undermining the prevailing peace and would remain focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the State.
“At this critical time that power will soon change hands in our country, it is my appeal that we all indulge in prayers for a peaceful transition and in particular for the incoming leaders at various positions for God to grant them wisdom and guide them in discharging their leadership responsibilities,” said Governor Yahaya.
He thanked the traditional rulers, community and religious leaders and indeed the entire people of Gombe state for their support to the administration and urged them all to rededicate themselves by contributing positively to the progress and development of Gombe State.
The Governor gave assurances of his administration’s commitment to ensuring speedy and sustainable development of the Gombe State.
